Dr. Alexandra Reichman, a physician in the Pathology Dept. at Rideout Memorial Hospital, has been given an Outstanding Performance Award by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) for her work with the ACS Commission on Cancer, which has gone "above and beyond the scope of the normal duties" in her role as liaison between the Commission and the Rideout Cancer Center.
As a Cancer Liaison Physician, Dr. Reichman is part of a national network of more than 1,600 volunteer physicians who provide leadership and direction to establish, maintain, and support their organization's cancer program. Only 20 of these 1,600 physicians are singled out for this ACS award.
Dr. Reichman, who also is Board-certified in Internal Medicine, has been closely associated with the Rideout Cancer Center since its beginning, and has served on its Cancer Committee since 2002. "Dr. Reichman has been a constant and supportive presence at the Cancer Center for a decade, and her dedication to quality and patient care goes far beyond her role as a pathologist," said Susan Vague, the Center's Administrator. "No one could be more deserving of this award than she."
In addition to her clinical duties and her three-year appointment to the ACS Commission on Cancer, Dr. Reichman also currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Rideout Health Group.
