Rideout Health: 530.749.4300

Dear Patients, Physicians, Colleagues and Friends,

Since the very first day I stepped in as Rideout’s interim CEO, I have been anxiously awaiting the moment I could write you all this letter. That moment has finally come.

On July 6, 2015, The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has determined that Rideout Memorial Hospital now meets the Medicare Conditions of Participation for a provider of hospital services.

The full validation survey conducted by CDPH determined that Rideout Memorial Hospital demonstrated compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation and provides the basis for the determination of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The System Improvement Agreement (SIA) with CMS is now completed.

Over the course of several months, our staff has gone above and beyond, and they have contributed enormously to our ongoing effort to improve Rideout’s quality and compliance. And so has every member of our Rideout family. Together, we’ve made incredible strides.

The successful completion of our full validation survey is a major milestone for our organization, and the culmination of a long journey of transformation and hard work from our dedicated and hardworking staff.

Our new, expanded Emergency Room is now open, reducing wait times and providing top quality emergency care to our community. Our Joint Commission accreditation – recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality and commitment to meeting established hospital performance standards and best practices – was confirmed last month. We have also raised staff wages and stabilized our workforce by adding hundreds of employees and reducing the number of traveling nurses.

Step by step, we have done – and continue to do – the hard work needed to provide the quality healthcare our community deserves. Yet the steps don’t end here. They are part of our ongoing commitment to continually elevate the level of care Rideout provides. We already have several significant initiatives planned for the remainder of the year, including our Facilities Master Plan as well as regional partnerships that will continue to propel us forward in quality and capability. And of course, the completion of our 220,000-square-foot campus expansion will mark another major milestone for our organization.

In the coming months, I will complete my service as interim CEO as planned, and will return once again to Rideout’s board of directors. We have been planning this transition carefully, and have been interviewing very highly qualified candidates for several months. I will continue to keep you informed as we finalize our selection process, and from my position on the board, I look forward to working closely and collaboratively with Rideout’s next CEO to lead our organization to new heights.

The last few months have been some of the most fulfilling of my entire career. They have given me enormous confidence in the future of this organization. I can’t wait to see what Rideout achieves next.

Thank you team Rideout for your hard work — and thanks also to our friends, colleagues and neighbors who have stood with us. We couldn’t have reached this point without your contribution. Onward.
