Monitoring your hearing is another service we are able to offer as part of our comprehensive Wellness and Occupational Health Program.

Audiometry is the testing of hearing ability. Typically, audiometric tests determine a subject's hearing level with the help of an audiometer but may also measure ability to discriminate between different sound intensities, recognize pitch, or distinguish speech from background noise.

Too much noise exposure may cause a temporary change in hearing (your ears may feel stuffed up) or a temporary ringing in your ears (tinnitus). These short-term problems usually go away within a few minutes or hours after leaving the noise. However, repeated exposures to loud noise can lead to permanent, incurable hearing loss or tinnitus. Noise-induced hearing loss is 100 percent preventable but once acquired, hearing loss is permanent and irreversible. Therefore, preventative measures must be taken by employers and workers to ensure the protection of workers' hearing.

Within the clinic, we will be able to test your hearing by using a machine called an Audiometer. After the test, you will be given a report as to the status of your hearing.

Under California law, a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) can perform a medical examination for persons submitting a medical examination report to operate one or more of the following:  School Bus, School Pupil Activity Bus, Youth.

Bus, General Public Para transit Vehicle, or Farm Labor Vehicle.  The MD/DO MUST also sign the medical report and the medical certificate.

If you have a commercial driver's license, then you are required to have a DMV/DOT physical exam every 2 years, (unless you are a school bus driver, you must meet other regulatory requirements).  This physical is also required if you are being monitored for a medical problem such as high blood pressure, heart disease or diabetes.

At Fremont-Rideout Urgent Care Center, our providers keep abreast of all current and new California & Federal Laws for DMV/DOT physicals.  New laws are pending that will require all providers who perform DMV/DOT to be trained and certified by the Federal Department of Transportation.

Our specially trained staff can meet all of your Occupational Health and Drug Testing needs. We will even send you a reminder when you are due for your next exam!

Our clinic can do DMV / DOT physicals on a Walk in basis also. We prefer that one makes an appointment so that the wait time is minimal, but walk-ins are welcome. It is a one-stop center for all of your DMV medical needs including DOT urine drug testing. We have the necessary forms and are well trained in the required paper work.

You can call 530-751-4900 for scheduling an appointment and directions.
