9th Annual Bless Your Heart Walk & Health Fair

Did You Know:
Each day, nearly 2,400 Americans die from a cardiovascular disease. That’s an average of one death every 37 seconds. A leading risk factor for heart attack and stroke is lack of physical activity. Research has also found that individuals may gain two hours of life expectancy for every one-hour of regular, vigorous exercise they do.

Take Your Sweetheart for a Walk at Rideout’s Bless Your Heart Walk

More than 400 people are expected to take steps to improve their heart health at the 9th Annual Bless Your Heart Walk & Health Fair on Saturday, February 4, at the Yuba Sutter Mall in Yuba City.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Rideout Health Group Cardiac Care Program & Services.

Registration in the mall's Food Court starts at 7:30 a.m. The walk will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Free health screenings will be offered from 7 to 11 a.m. The River Valley Cheer Leaders and Dandy the Smokeless Dragon will also attend and there will be live music and a live radio remote provided by Results Radio.

Children walk free with a registered adult and participants will be entered to win prizes for every lap completed. Awards will be given for the best-dressed team and individual walkers. The cost for the walk is $15 for pre-registration by Jan. 31 and $20 on the day of the event. Walk participants will get a T-Shirt.

The non-competitive walk will include teams of employees from Rideout Health Group as well as many local organizations and area businesses, along with friends and family members of all ages.

Bless Your Heart Walk will also help educate the public about Heart Disease and Stroke: America’s No 1 and No 3 killers by offering the following Health Screenings:

Several agencies will provide a variety of screenings. The Sutter County Health Department will provide cholesterol screening; Yuba County Public Health will screen for Body Mass Index (BMI) and Clean Break: Quit Using Tobacco will be at the event.

The Heart Center at Rideout will offer an Ultrasound/Scan of the Carotid and Abdominal area; Rideout Cardiac Rehab will monitor blood pressure; Fremont-Rideout Sweet Success will cover Nutrition/Diabetes in Pregnancy and registered dieticians from Fremont-Rideout Outpatient Nutrition will offer nutrition information.

The Heart Walk is locally sponsored by, The Rideout Foundation, The Heart Center at Rideout, The Yuba Sutter Mall, and other area organizations and businesses.

Team registration packets can be secured at the Yuba Sutter Mall or online at Sponsorship, volunteer, donation opportunities and further information are available by calling 530 751-4070.
