Take Your Sweetheart for a Walk at FRHG’s Bless Your Heart Walk

More than 400 Yuba-Sutter residents are expected to take steps to improve their heart health on Saturday, February 6, when they participate in the Rideout Foundation, 7th Annual Bless Your Heart Walk at the Yuba-Sutter mall.

Bless Your Heart Walk will take place at the Yuba-Sutter Mall, corner of Hwy 99/20 in Yuba City.

Registration begins at 7:30am. The walk, which circles around the inside of the Yuba Sutter Mall begins at 8:30am. Teams of 5-15 can participate for $100. Pre-registered individual walkers 18 and over are $15 and children accompanied by an adult are free.  Day of registration is $20.

This year, proceeds will go toward the purchase of 18 Wireless EKG Monitors.  The monitors will be installed in area ambulances and transmit critical heart data to the hospital en route wirelessly and immediately when every second counts.  Doctors can diagnose the condition of the patient's heart, identify the best treatment protocol, and be ready to treat the patient when they arrive to the ER.

Heart Walk will also help educate the public about Heart Disease and Stroke: America's No 1 and No 3 killers.

Fun at Heart Walk:

•              Classic Rock by The Gary Toledo Band

•              Warm up with Jill Wheaton, founder Baby Bootcamp

•              Radio DJ and Live Remote, Results Radio

FRHG Vendors:

•              Mended Hearts Volunteer Program

•              Cardiac Rehabilitation

•              upatient

The non-competitive walk will include teams of employees from Rideout Health Group as well as many local organizations and area businesses, along with friends and family members of all ages.

Each day, nearly 2,400 Americans die from a cardiovascular disease. That's an average of one death every 37 seconds. A leading risk factor for heart attack and stroke is lack of physical activity. Research has also found that individuals may gain two hours of life expectancy for every one-hour of regular, vigorous exercise they do.

The Heart Walk is locally sponsored by, The Rideout Foundation, The Heart Center at Rideout, The Yuba Sutter Mall, Appeal-Democrat and other area organizations and businesses.

Local merchants will be donating to the very popular Healthy Heart Opportunity Drawing including $250, $100 and $50 shopping spree prizes (sponsored by Yuba-Sutter Mall and Mall Merchants). Raffle tickets will be given for each lap completed. Healthy foods, beverages and up-lifting entertainment will be available for walkers. And, prizes will be award for "Heartiest" dressed team.

Team registration packets can be secured at the Yuba-Sutter Mall or online at www.frhg.org. Sponsorship, volunteer, donation opportunities and further information are available by calling 530 751-4070.
