Rideout Health Announces 24/7 Neurosurgical Care

03-11-2016

Each year, nearly two million Americans suffer injury to the brain or spinal cord, causing permanent functional disabilities including paralysis, sensory dysfunction and cognitive disorders.

Rideout Health has entered into an agreement with B. Barry Chehrazi, MD, Kavian Shahi, MD and Hamidreza Aliabadi, MD of Spine & Neurosurgery Associates Medical Group to provide neurosurgical services, including cranial and spine care right here at home.

"This new relationship gives all Rideout Health patients access to the highest standard of care in neurosurgery," notes Melissa Burns, COO. "This group of physicians brings with them the clinical expertise required to provide exemplary medical care for our patients."

Injuries to the brain and spinal cord put victims at particularly high risk for death or serious – even permanent – impairment to their cognitive or motor functions. These exceptional surgeons, Dr. Chehrazi, Dr. Shahi and Dr. Aliabadi, who now practice at the Rideout Neurosurgery Clinic in Marysville, are on a 24/7 trauma-call rotation with Rideout as well, ensuring that a neurosurgeon is available at our Trauma Center whenever needed.

"The addition of this neurosurgery team to Rideout will benefit inpatient care and trauma care," said Christopher Bradburn, MD, Medical Director, Rideout Emergency Department. "This partnership means that our most seriously injured patients will be much less likely to be transferred outside the county for the care they urgently need".

Dr. Barry Chehrazi is Board Certified by The American Board of Neurological Surgery. He received his medical degree from the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) in 1973 and completed his residency training in surgery and neurological surgery at Yale University in 1979.
