UC Davis Medical Center CEO Emeritus Takes the Helm Today

YUBA CITY, Calif., Sept. 3, 2014 — Rideout Health's Board of Directors announced today the appointment of Robert E. Chason as interim CEO of the non-profit healthcare organization. Also appointed, to the interim post of Chief Medical Officer, is David H. Wisner, MD, FACS.

Interim CEO Bob Chason, who is CEO Emeritus of the University of California, Davis Medical Center, has a long association with Rideout, and is a current Rideout Board member. During his years at UC Davis Medical Center, as COO and then CEO, Chason oversaw the introduction of telemedicine, electronic health records, expanded facilities and the partnership with Rideout that created the Cancer Center in Marysville, which became the flagship of the UC Davis Cancer Care Network.

In making the announcement, Rideout Board Chairman John Wright said, "Bob Chason brings to his new role at Rideout a profound and practical knowledge of every aspect of hospital and clinic operations, as well as a great depth of knowledge and experience in the areas of quality of care and regulatory compliance. The Board is gratified that Bob has agreed to underscore his commitment to Rideout and our community by accepting the role of interim CEO."

The Board also made an interim appointment to the newly-configured post of Chief Medical Officer.

David H. Wisner, MD, FACS is a trauma surgeon, professor of surgery, Vice Chairman of the Department of Surgery at UC Davis Medical Center and their former Chief of Trauma Services. He is a third generation California physician who grew up in northern California and has roots in the Yuba-Sutter area. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of California Davis in 1977, attended medical school there and, after a residency in surgery that included a research fellowship in Germany, he joined the UCD faculty in the department of general surgery. He has published and presented extensively on the subjects of trauma and emergency care, and bioethics.

"With these interim appointments, the Rideout Board is confident that our forward progress will proceed without compromise and that our programs and our people will be further enriched by the experience and insight these two distinguished healthcare leaders will share with us," said Chairman Wright.
