Robert Chason, former Chief Executive Officer of UC Davis Medical Center,
was named interim CEO of Rideout Health and is focusing the organization's
attention on patient safety and quality of care.
Chason, whose long association with Rideout dates to his critical role
in the partnership with UC Davis Medical Center to create the Rideout
Cancer Center, was serving on the Rideout Health Board of Directors when
former CEO Theresa Hamilton retired in August of 2014. The Board of Directors
turned to Chason, who agreed to take the helm until a new CEO is appointed
following a nationwide recruitment process.
"We have a highly skilled clinical staff, physicians, nurses, and
technicians as well as a caring support staff eager to provide high quality
service to our patients," Chason said in a letter to staff following
his appointment. "Much progress has been made and more is required."
Chason said the organization's focus is to meet the numerous milestones
between today and the anticipated opening of the new Rideout Regional
Medical Center in the second half of 2015. There are additional milestones
that must be met to open the expanded Emergency Department.
"There is much work that needs to be done and it will require the
full commitment of everyone here," he told staff.
Chason noted that Rideout Health's medical facilities are critical
to the health and well being of the area's residents, and particularly
the underserved. Approximately 55,000 people each year are seen at the
existing Emergency Department.
