Rideout Health Recognizes Physicians On National Doctors Day. It’s a TIE!!

With hundreds of votes collected and counted – we've got a tie! Congratulations David, Harrison, MD and Karen Kakishiba, MD – Rideout Health's Favorite Physician(s) of the Year, 2013!

Both doctors were announced and recognized on Monday, April 2, as part of Rideout Health's 2013 Doctors Day Celebration.

David Harrison, MD is a Hematology and Oncology physician who has been with the Rideout Cancer Center since it opened in September of 2000. He completed his undergraduate medical training and Residency at John Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. His Hematology/Oncology Fellowship was completed at the University of Washington, in Seattle, Washington (1974-1976). He is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (1974), Medical Oncology (1977), and Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Hematology in 1980.

Karen Kakishiba, MD is Board Certified, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, physician who has been practicing in Yuba City since 1990. She has also offered her expertise and care at Rideout Hospice in Yuba City for many years. Kakishiba completed her medical training in 1983, from the University of California at San Diego and served her residency at the same University. Dr. Kakishiba is on the Healthgrades Honor Roll and is a Healthgrades Recognized Doctor. She speaks English and Korean.

The Rideout Foundation has hosted the "Favorite Physician of the Year Contest" since 2010. Both Dr. Kakishiba and Dr. Harrison received 32 nominations each from physicians and staff.

"These two physicians are outstanding medical providers – well respected by their colleagues, physicians and our staff," said Carol Ramirez, VP, Rideout Foundation. "It is a great opportunity to be able to honor them as "Favorite Physicians, 2013".
