Phase I of Expanded Rideout Emergency Department Completed Public Invited to Ribbon-Cutting and Tours, May 29

MARYSVILLE, May 17, 2013 -- Members of the public are invited to join government officials and the Rideout Health leadership at the official opening of the major expansion of the Emergency Department at Rideout Regional Medical Center in Marysville. A ribbon-cutting and reception is scheduled for 5:30 pm on Wednesday, May 29. Guided tours also will be available. Entrance to the facility is just to the left of the hospital's main entrance at 725 4th Street, between G and H.

The Phase I expansion adds 5,000 square feet to the existing 12,000 sq. ft. and creates 13 multi-use ED/Observation beds, two Rapid Care exam rooms and an additional triage room in the facility, which will now have 32 total beds. The much-anticipated expansion will allow the ED to serve the needs of a growing community. Last year, the Rideout Emergency Department handled nearly 55,000 patient visits, in the space originally designed for only half that volume.

The second and final phase of the expansion will be operational in early 2015 with the opening of the new Rideout hospital building; this will add another 3,000 sq. ft. and five additional beds. It also will be served by the new building's rooftop helipad for Life Flight operations. Rideout's Emergency Department is a Level III Trauma Center, and the only STEMI-receiving center serving Yuba, Sutter and parts of Nevada, Butte and Colusa Counties, equipped and staffed to handle the most serious cases of heart attacks.
