Lymphedema Program for Breast Cancer Survivors

Rideout Cancer Center Presents Lymphedema Program for Breast Cancer Survivors
April 27, 1-2PM

The folks at the Rideout Cancer Center Wellness Program are facilitating a special program on Lymphedema.

The program will be held at the Cancer Center Wellness Center Program Room, 618 5th Street in Marysville on April 27, 2012, 1-2PM.

Women who have been treated for breast cancer may be at risk for arm, breast, and chest swelling called lymphedema (limf-uh-dee-muh). Most women who have had breast cancer will not develop this side effect, but many will. The risk of lymphedema is higher for women who have surgery and radiation therapy to treat breast cancer.

At this program breast cancer survivors will learn about what lymphedema is, the steps you can take to lower your risk, and what signs you can look for.

There is no way to know who will get lymphedema. But there are things one can do to try to prevent it. And recognizing it early and starting treatment right away can help manage it.

Free gifts and light refreshments will be available. Seating is limited. Please RSVP to 749-4400 Ext. 1686.
