Brittan School's California Jr. Scholarship Federation (CJSF) member Franklin Tarke helped devise a plan for students at his school to support THEIR community hospital!
CJSF students organized an event called "Brittan For Life," where student participants raise funds by participating in a "lap-walk" fundraiser. The fundraiser will benefit the Pediatric Department at Fremont Medical Center in Yuba City.
Brittan students invited their friends and family to help raise funds by sponsoring a student to walk on October 9, 2009. The event was held on the school's new track that was built last summer with funds donated by Venoco, Inc. and the Brittan Parent Activity Club.
"We are delighted that Franklin, his committee and Brittan School organized this event," stated Carol Ramirez, VP Community Relations and Rideout Foundation. "Youth are some of our most powerful and effective volunteers, serving our communities in varied and helpful ways. Volunteering is a great way for a young person to develop new skills and to make a difference in the community. We are very proud of all the Brittan students who are participating."
Birttan school students raised a total of $2,885.82.
Students who participated received a wellness prize from the health group.
