Our Cast

Alex Samay - Actor:

Over the years, Alex has managed to leave a small footprint into the acting world of Yuba City, but is making quick plans to pursue acting in even higher places. In his freshman year of high school, Alex participated in his first play, Man of La Mancha as a variety of characters including The Barber. From that point, he was quickly hooked, and decided acting was the career for him. Fast forward to today - Alex has participated in over 15 plays, has received an Elly Nomination for Best Supporting Actor (for playing 7 characters in The Acting Company's Bullshot Crummond), and has toured with the RideOut Healthy Kids for 4 seasons.

As a multipotentialite, Alex's interests in career choices vary very drastically. In the future, Alex hopes to one day make a living not only as an actor, but as a writer, director, inventor, businessman, professional whistler, and maze artist (among other things). At the current moment, Alex has plans to move to L.A. or to Ashland, Oregon at the end of June to further pursue his acting career, and is also working daily to finish drawing and writing his book Maze a Day, which is estimated to be finished by the end of the year.

Alex's habits include binging (literally) hundreds of hours of Ted Talks (an online TV program), watching educational videos on youtube about science and philosophy, and biking the river bottoms of Yuba City. His number one goal in life, is to fail miserably, because "The great thing about striving for failure is when you succeed, you're happy! But if you fail, you can still feel a bit accomplished at achieving your goals." For the record though, Alex does NOT condone not doing your best!

Kristin Tanon-Daugherty - School Liaison/Actor:

This is Kristin’s second tour with Rideout Healthy Kids. Kristin was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and has studied dance and theatre for the last 20+ years. Kristin’s artistic background and studies have taken her from performing in countless theatre productions, to starting a dance company in Seattle, to traveling across Europe with TrEd Dance Company based in Yuba City and much more. Kristin’s interest in and commitment to helping youth began in high school as a member of a nonprofit organization called T.I.G.H.T. (Teens Invested in Giving Hope to Teens), an anti-drugs and alcohol message based performance team that traveled to high schools and middle schools. Kristin couldn't be happier to be a part of the Rideout Healthy Kids Crew and loves being able to promote a lifestyle of health and wholeness to the youth of this community – with her husband Johnny – also an RHK actor!
