Rideout Health Bequest Society Induction
The Rideout Foundation Bequest Society was formed in 2002 to recognize
donors who have already designated in their will, trust or other type
of estate plan, a donation of $10,000 or more to the Foundation, guaranteeing
the work of the Foundation and the non-profit healthcare system we support
will continue for decades to come. Inductees receive a crystal sculpture
and a diamond pin or pendant. Tonight we bestow that on Rich and Mary
Gabel, with gratitude for their generous gift to the health of our community.
Rich and Mary Gabel
Rich and Mary were both born and raised in Fresno California. They moved
to Yuba City in 1985 following a job offer to Rich from Frank M. Booth.
They have two beautiful daughters, now 27 and 24. Both graduates of UC
Berkeley. Brittany, the oldest has a masters degree in public administration
and is currently working in Oakland, her fiancée is a PHD student
at UC Berkeley. Heather, their younger daughter is currently applying
to grad school in Chicago. Her fiancée is a medical student in
Rich's educational background includes an associate of science degree
in accounting, followed by a graduate degree in the school of hard knocks;
Mary's educational back ground includes a bachelors degree in business
administration with an emphasis in accounting. Both passed the CPA exam,
Mary is a licensed CPA.
Rich has been the CFO of Frank M. Booth for 29 years. Mary has been the
Business Manager for Calpine for the last 14 years.
Their hobbies include golf, travel, bowling, and community service (both
are members of Rotary). Rich is the past Chairman of the Board of the
Yuba Sutter Chamber of Commerce, serves on the Yuba County Economic Advisory
Board, and is chairman of the CTECH Advisory Board for the Marysville
Unified School District. Rich is also an active member of the Construction
Financial Management Association and has participated in Dance with Our
Stars. Mary is a past president of Yuba City Rotary and a current member
of the Rideout Health Foundation board of directors.
Mary's reason for joining the bequest society was to have an opportunity
to make a difference in our local hospital and its ability to provide
excellent care to our community at large. Rich's reason for joining
the bequest society was to trick the community into remembering him long
after he is gone.
The Gabel's join a very special group of Bequest Society members, some
of whom are with us tonight. If you hear your name, please stand:

Carol Binnniger Hamon was born and raised in Marysville, and married her high school sweetheart,
Bill Hamon in 1952. Together the couple owned Bill Hamon Toyota and Midvalley
Leasing. Carol made friends wherever she went. Entertained whenever there
was an excuse, and had a gift for hospitality, sharing her home and cabin
with family and friends. Carol was a generous philanthropist to many charities
and organizations and a constant friend and supporter of Rideout Health.
We will dearly miss Carol in our community.
