Praveen Prasad, MD
Praveen Prasad, MD,board certified in Neurosurgery and also in internal
medicine, practices Neurosurgery at Rideout Hospital. Dr. Prasad specializes
in spine surgery, including cervical disc replacement, minimally invasive
techniques, failed back syndrome, neuro-modulation, and other procedures
related to chronic pain conditions and treatment. Dr. Prasad is on the
clinical faculty at the University of California, Davis Medical Center
and is a frequent and sought after speaker for physician/surgeon training
courses and programs. He was educated at Stanford University and University
of California, Davis. Before returning to California in 2000, Dr. Prasad
was Chief of Neurosurgery at Western Neurological Institute in Salt Lake
City. He is also a partner in Cobb, French and Prasad Neurosurgical Associates.
Born in India, Dr. Prasad spent much of his early childhood in Canada
before attending Stanford. He is married and has three children in college.

Russell says he lives in a "fantasy world". But, we know for
a fact that he takes his job at GreenTraks, as their National Sales Manager
very seriously: GreenTraks, a Marysville-based firm, provides on-demand
energy reporting services.
Russell is quite the kidder, as his answers to our DWOS Biography questions
include: "I studied just enough to become a C Student." And,
"I am proud to share that I am the honorary president of the Richard
Simmons Fan Club (12
th year running), and a member of: Remote Controlaholics Anonymous (I've
been clean and remote-free for 3 years and 2 months now).
Russell says he is most passionate about his children (he has two), public
speaking, cooking and the great outdoors. Although, he admits, "I
feel challenged when it comes to understanding the female mind",
he does have a 'significant other', "The lovely and talented
Tina Sanchez." Russell has won numerous public speaking awards including
Humorous Speech Competition Champion, Western United States Region with
Toastmasters International (1995). "I have traveled throughout most
of the U.S., and 16 foreign countries, and I have never found a place
that I would rather live and raise children then right here in Northern
California." Russell is dancing with Michelle Blake.
Dan is the Government Relations Representative for PG&E in Chico. He
and his wife, LaVonne have three children. Dan's hobbies include playing
basketball, reading, bocce ball and "whiskey…?". Dan
proudly shares that he is involved in Red Cross, Relay for Life and Special
Olympics.. Dan admits, "I feel challenged when it comes to dancing
and I'm terrified of celery". Dan says, "I love this community,
its focus on family and many outdoor activities." Dan is dancing
with Marcie Andrews.
Robin Walther is retired from PG&E. She is married to Tom Walther,
retired CEO, Sutter Health and Peach Tree Healthcare. She has 2 daughters,
1 step-daughter and one step-son. Robin's hobbies include golf, gardening,
reading, traveling, sewing and Sudoku. She is a member of the United Way
Kiwanis Early Risers and Beale Air Force Base. Robin says, "I am
passionate about the well-being of our community." Robin is dancing
with her honorary son, Alex Cesena.

Karanbir S. Grewal, MD, FACC
A Sutter Health physician, "Ken" Grewal, MD, is Board Certified
in both Cardiology and Cardiovascular Interventions, and is an Assistant
Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California Davis Medical
Center. He is a member of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow
of the American College of Cardiology. He has served as Chairman of the
Cardiac Committee for Rideout Health, and is currently Medical Director
at Fremont-Rideout for the STEMI program. As a leader in his field, Dr.
Grewal is actively involved in professional and public education and shares
his knowledge through seminars, television and public appearances. Dr.
Grewal is dancing wih Angelika Klug.
Jennifer is the owner and publisher of Me and Mine Magazine, a local women's
lifestyle publication. She studied communication design at CSU Chico.
Her hobbies include, cycling, wine tasting, and entertaining in her home
-- "If I could have a dinner party or cocktail party every week,
I would!" Jennifer is married to Don Traynham. The couple live in
Colusa with their two children.
Jennifer admits to wanting Kelly Ripa's job but says, "I would
settle for the Today Show." Jennifer loves to sing, "I will
steal the microphone at a wedding or any other event." Locally, Jennifer
is involved with the Larry Geweke Caring for Women Foundation and Alpha Sigma.
"I am passionate about spreading the word on the importance of organ
donation, and registering to donate. According to Donate Life America,
more than 112,000 people nationally are currently waiting for an organ
or tissue transplant, and every day 18 people die in the US because they
failed to receive a transplant in time." Jennifer is dancing with
Rich says, "I live to dance in Yuba City". When not dancing,
Rich is the Chief Financial Officer (and bottle washer) at Frank M. Booth,
Inc. He's married to his "cosmic mate" Mary Gabel. The couple
has two children in college. Rich's hobbies include bowling, golf
and beer sampling. He is a proud member of the Rotary Club of Marysville
(past president), Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce (past chairman), Yuba
County Economic Development Advisory Committee and the Jr Unified School
District, CTECH. "I am passionate about anything from the 60's,
especially Jim Morrison and The Doors." His biggest challenge is
"getting a hair cut." What most people don't know about
Rich is "I can actually be a nice guy if I try and I once had a high
IQ." What Richard loves most about the Yuba-Sutter Community is "It
is very close-knit, friendly and full of fun people. We have several great
service clubs/organizations that accomplish great things." Rich is
dancing with Luz Uribe.
Coleen lives in Yuba City with her husband Darren and their two children
Jordan and Audrey. She owns Clear Strategies, LLC, as a public relations
firm. Coleen studied public policy and business administration in college.
Her hobbies include spending time with family and friends and enjoying
a good bottle of wine by the pool -- or going to the occasional SF Giants
game. She is the current Yuba-Sutter United Way President, Soroptimist
of Marysville-Yuba City President and a member of the Franklin Elementary
School District Board of Trustees. Coleen says, "I am passionate
about education, politics and engaging the public about community issues."
Something most people don't know about Coleen is that she loves to
sing karaoke. Coleen says, "I love the small town feel, giving spirit
and friendly people in our community … and the Chocolate Crackles
at Cookie Tree."
Kevin is the Head Food Taster and General Partner at New Earth Market in
Yuba City and co-owner of the Corner Bike Shop, Yuba City. He is married
to Susan and the couple has three children. Kevin has many years of dance
experience – none which actually include his dancing – he
considers himself a pro by proxy with many years of dance study done "by
watching my girls perform at Jacque's Dance Expressions". Kevin's
hobbies include biking, running, triathalons … and "checking
emails on my Smartphone." He is passionate about "life, health,
education, food, his children, food, building a better community, food…"
Kevin feels challenged when it comes to dancing the Cha Cha and eating
brussel sprouts. "What I love most about our community is the amazing
people that live here. It's a great place to raise a family."

Amanda is a Dance Instructor, Studio Administrator and Production Manager
at Jacque's Dance Expressions in Yuba City. She says, "I am single
– and married to my job." Amanda, who describes herself as
"quite shy," is a 2004 graduate of Marysville Charter Academy
for the Arts and holds a Bachelors Degree from Loyola Marymount University.
She's heavily involved with the JDE Competition Team, and acts as
Assistant Director for their showcases. "I'm passionate about
teaching dance to kids."
A native of the Yuba-Sutter area who returned to make Yuba City her home,
Michele graduated from San Diego State University (
Go Aztecs!) with a B.S. in Kinesiology and earned a master's degree in Exercise
Physiology from CSU, Chico.
Michelle is the Executive Director at Sutter County Children and Families
Commission. The Children and Families Commission provides a comprehensive
system of information, programs and services to support all Sutter County
children and their families, to help ensure that each child enters school
healthy and ready to learn.
Michelle is married to Richard Blake. Together they have two fabulous children,
Gannon and Mila. Michele is an avid tennis player and musical theater
buff. She is a commissioner for the Yuba City Parks and Recreation Department,
serves on the Friends of the Parks and Recreation Foundation, is a member
of various local and state health-oriented coalitions, and is a proud
parent member of the Butte Vista Parent Club.
Jacque lives in Yuba City and has two children, Samantha and Alexander.
She owns Jacque's Dance Expressions in Yuba City, where she teaches
dance and is a choreographer and director. Jacque has studied dance in
Yuba City, San Diego and Los Angeles, beginning at age 5. She has been
teaching dance for 20+ years. Her hobbies include baseball, swimming,
dance, dance and dance. She is passionate about teaching dancers of all
ages – learning and growing through new experiences through dance
and life. Jacque says "right now, my challenge is not kicking my
DWOS partner Kevin Cotter in the groin – and doing the entire dance
with him -- while eating Cheetos." What Jacque loves most about the
Yuba-Sutter community is "… no matter what, we all seem to
pull together and continue to support one another."
Alex is a well-known regional actor who, when not on stage, works at Starbucks
in Yuba City as a Barista. His hobbies include singing, acting, cooking
and bike riding. Alex is a proud member of the Sutter Performing Arts
Assn. and a Summer Theater teacher/director for the Yuba City Parks &
Recreation Dept., and the Faith Christian Players. Alex says, "one
day I'm going to perform on Broadway." He explains, "something
most people don't know about me is I can roll my belly." Alex
has warm feelings about the Yuba-Sutter community and says, "I love
that the people who live in this community can get together to support
each other to help a great cause."
Rick lives in Marysville with his wife Irene Cusack. The couple has one
child. Rick is a First Sergeant with the United States Air Force. He is
a Paralegal and was awarded the Air Force Paralegal of the Year in 2005.
Rick's hobbies include intramural sports and refereeing youth football.
Luz Elena Uribe
Luz lives in Live Oak with her husband, Luis Miguel Uribe, and their four
children. Luz works for the Yuba City Unified School District as a Secretary
at Gray Avenue Middle School and as an Interpreter for the School District.
She is also the co-owner of Exer-Son Studio, where she teaches Zumba.
Her hobbies include dancing and singing. Luz says, "I'm passionate
about dancing and teaching Zumba. It has become such an important part
of my life, it has enabled me to meet so many wonderful people. Our studio
is more than a business. We are family."
